Storage, monitoring & recovery
Keep the data usable. Know what needs attention.
Based in Los Angeles, FOO.XYZ helps businesses plan storage growth, review backup coverage and test recovery for agreed systems. Monitoring should reveal faults that matter, with enough context to decide what to do next.
Storage growth & recovery
Start with the data, access patterns and consequences of losing access. For ZFS and TrueNAS systems, work can include health and capacity reviews, administration, replication checks and recovery planning. NAS/SAN troubleshooting also follows file permissions, client access and storage connectivity.
With scale-out storage such as Dell Isilon/PowerScale, expansion planning considers capacity distribution, component compatibility and a staged maintenance plan. Identify the affected components and recovery options before hardware or configuration changes. Our post-production storage experience describes work with petabyte-scale datasets.
Backups need usable restore points and a tested way back. We review coverage, retention, dependencies and restore order, then run isolated recovery tests with documented results. Disaster recovery planning includes the systems and access needed to make restored data useful.
Monitoring that leads to action
We assess existing monitoring before recommending changes. Prometheus can collect service and infrastructure metrics; Grafana can make those measurements useful to the people operating the systems. Alerts need context, an owner and an agreed response, not just a threshold.
Infrastructure observability can combine metrics, logs and service checks. Existing security visibility tools, including Wazuh and Suricata, are reviewed around the available data and scope. For hybrid environments, checks should cover connectivity and dependencies across locations as well as individual hosts.
Clear responsibilities
A monitoring installation does not by itself include round-the-clock response. Alert recipients, coverage, maintenance responsibilities, and any ongoing support expectations are agreed in the scope. Recovery tests are defined in advance to avoid modifying production data.
If an alert points to a physical fault, Los Angeles Remote Hands can assist with approved drive or hardware replacement and checks directed by your remote engineer. Visits are scoped and scheduled separately.
